Jingle Jangle

So the hubby and I were singing to the baby in the car on the way home from having Thai food in Rockville this evening (yum!). And somehow we started doing jingles from old tv commercials. We agreed that TV commercials are just not the same as they used to be in "the good ol' days".

Now...considering there is a 'slight' age difference between my hubby and I....this is one of those times where our age difference is rather evident. Anyway...can YOU remember any old commercial jingles? For example...can you sing them through? It's hard to do!

Here are some of the ones we remembered....

The best part of waking up, is Folgers in your cup.

My bologna has a first name, it's O-S-C-A-R.

Plop plop, Fizz fizz, oh what a relief it is. Alkaselzer.

Aye yaye yaye yaye, I am a frito bandito.

I'm a pepper, you're a pepper, if you drink Dr. Pepper, then you're a pepper too!

Ooh I heard it through the grapevine (California Raisins)

Oh I wish I was an Oscar Mayer weiner, that is what I truly wish to be.

I don't want to grow up, I'm a Toys R Us Kid, there's lots of games and toys that I can play with.

Anyway, you get the idea...ah the "good ol' days"...

Summer Time

I Know I Know I KNOW!!! How could I just up and leave the blog!? I didn't's just that this little girl keeps me so busy!

She is now a whopping 9 months old! She has 7 teeth. She crawls. She stands. She even walks when holding onto something. She is loud and noisy (except when she is into something she shouldn't be). She is sassy and full of love!

This has been a very HOT summer. We have spent a lot of our time indoors due to the horrendous heat. I have learned to grow produce, make and can jelly, create new meals with various ingredients all while keeping it healthy and within a crazy tight budget!

One thing about not working's expensive! When we had 2 full incomes coming into our household I never really thought about all that we spent on things when we wanted them. Now that we have 1 income (and took a cut - thanks USA gov't) we are incredibly aware of where every dollar goes to. I have joined the large bandwagon of couponing. I started doing it much more in the winter and have built a good stockpile that we use to make 3 meals a day (including Glenn's lunches for work) for almost 3 weeks without purchasing anything that was non-perishable. Thank goodness for an awesome freezer! (thanks to my mom for that)

Anyway, aside from the baby girl, couponing, gardening, and cooking I have decided to further my knowledge base of knitting and crochet. I can do both fiber arts and have made quite a few items for gifts and a local photographer that requested items to use in her studio. Anyway, I have enrolled in the Craft Yarn Council Certified Instructor Course(s) for Knitting and Crocheting. There are 2 parts to each cours with 4-5 lessons in each part. I will receive a certificate and pin at the end of each part. So 4 certifications and 4 pins at the end.

The course is completed via correspondence (email, phone, snail mail). As I complete Part 1 and then again Part 2 I send in my "lesson book" with all of the samples and required materials that I have either knit or crocheted and they will be graded. I will complete an oral test/review with my assigned teacher via phone as well.

I would say I have advanced beginner to intermediate skills in these areas. However, when I received my coursebooks I was flabbergasted! What have I gotten myself into!? So...*breathe in, breathe out* one page at a time. A good friend insists I can do it, so I will try to believe her and knit onward!

With this new excitement of completing a certified instructor course in knitting and may wonder...what then? fact during my certification process I am going to fulfill my needed teaching hours and make some extra $$ by working at Michaels Craft Stores!!! Yep...I am employed as both knitting and crochet instructor. I have created a class schedule for September and am really hoping people sign up! It is nice to "work" for 2.5 hours doing something you love and get a little extra $ on the side too.

Here's to making it through!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Lucky stars above you,

Sunshine on your way,

Many friends to love you,

Joy in work and play-

Laughter to outweigh each care,

In your heart a song-

And gladness waiting everywhere

All your whole life long!

This Irish blessing was read to us by my grandfather during our wedding toast. What a great moment.

Obviously I have lacked in my blog updates. Lil Miss has kept this mommy busy! She is now 4 months old! At her check up with the pediatrician she weighed 11lbs 6.5 oz and 22.5 inches long. She is a happy healthy girl and we are very lucky to have her.

Today as we celebrate St. Patrick's Day we started out with some Irish soda bread with the morning coffee and the crockpot is stocked full of 3 lbs of corned beef, red potatoes and cabbage! Mmm! Daddy will probably enjoy a Guinness at dinner and we'll all crash into bed tonight!

Check out our beautiful Irish girl!!!

I have NOT forgotten to update I promise! But I HAVE been incredibly busy with the little miss! I can't believe she will be 6 weeks old tomorrow! Christmas is this week, and so afterwards I promise to update again. Below are a few of my favorite pictures we had taken when she was just 8 days old.

Happy Turkey Day!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

As in many years we have so much to be thankful for. And day to day we do forget to always be thankful.

This year we are eternally thankful for the amazing gift of our little girl. Parenting is a whole new world. One in which I couldn't study for, take a test, pass it and be confident in knowing what in the world I am doing! But, each day is a new lesson.

Here are some fun photos from today.

She loves her Mommy!!!

Due Date...

As you may notice above, the pregnancy countdown ticker shows 40 weeks and 1 day pregnant. Yep...still pregnant. Our due date was yesterday. we are officially over due!
At our doctor appointment on Friday, we were at 1 cm and 50% effaced. However, according to the doctor, the baby's head was still up high above the cervix. Now what?!
We go back on Wednesday morning for another appointment and an ultrasound to see what the little girl is up to. The doctor said as long she is healthy and the uterus environment is still healthy for her, they will let me continue the pregnancy up to 10-12 days post due date before discussing induction.

Yuck to induction!
Yuck to being pregnant for 10-12 more days possibly!
Yuck that I have spent a week home from work without the baby arriving!

So anyway...that is the latest. We continue to wait. Below is a picture of me at 40 weeks pregnant, on the due date.
